Where is the fuel pump relay on 73 450S/L
 

I have a 1973 MB 450S/L that apparrently has a bad fuel pump relay switch. My problem is, I can't locate its location on car. Right now, I have no power going to the fuel pump. I've checked the fuse box and I have power to and from the fuse for the pump. I have no pressure in the fuel line when key is on.

It's right above the fuse box - remove the under-dash cover for access. Look for the large gauge black-red-white (I think) wire.

Should be relay number 1. They have numbered wire tags...two stacks of relays, top of the stack on the left, above the fuse box. You may need to carefully remove the kick panel to get easy access.

Does the relay just pull off, or is there special technique to removing it? I've tried pulling on it pretty hard. Then I thought I might be doing it incorrectly. I don't want to rip the entire structure out that it plugs into. Got any ideas? Thanks for all your help. You were absolutely correct.

Thanks for the responses. Without you guys my car wouldn't be running right now. I pulled out the fuel relay switch and found massive corrision. I cleaned the switch and the receiver and reinstalled. The engine started imediately. The hardest part was getting the switch out of the socket because of the corrosion. I'm driving it all over town now. It's rated at about a 4 right now. My goal is for full restoration. Again, thanks to you all.
