Exclamation 1992 A/c Dtc73

My A/C stopped working on my 1992 500SL, The trouble code read out using the on board diags from the A/C control panel is DTC73 (A/C compressor signal, open circuit). Does anyone have any ideas as to what component(s) could be the cause of this? The schematics I have are real hard to follow and thought someone might know the parts that would possibly cause this error condition. Any ideas????

I believe the problem could be the pushbutton control unit, the Engine Systems Control Module, or the refrigerant low pressure switch. I could post pictures, but the file size is too large. If you like, post this question over on the R129 forum at benzworld.org: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129-sl-class/. They are less restrictive on file size.

Bob, Thanks- I will try and post on the MB site as well, I subscribe to Alldata, but the online manual is weak and the trouble charts are hard to see, not real good clear copies and then on top of that, the troubleshooting flow charts are weak to say the least. I have another manual coming in today that might help me also. I was trying to find a clear diagram of what the code considers as the so called compressor open circuit?? I will be testing the pressure sensor and refrigerant level tomorrow if I get home from work early enough. I'll post what I find then. Thanks again- JOe
