This may sound weird but I believe that a weak spark can actually get blown out by engine compression and the plug will not complete the spark duration. This would cause the plugs to get wet.
I have not been following the thread so I do not know what your original problem was. Just wanted to make sure you were not hunting for an injection problem when my ignition problem sure acted like an injection problem. I have a friend that bought a used BMW cheap because it was missing and the owner could figure out what was wrong with the injection system. My friend put new coils on and the car now runs great and was a good deal. I am not a tech just a back yard MB tech want-a-be. sldan |

sldan,
What goes on inside that compression chamber is pretty much beyond me. I went out and dug the old coil out of the drawer and will take it to my mechanic tomorrow, along with several of the suggestions proposed by folks. We'll eventually get to the bottom of it. Thanks,
