Bulb burned ligth on all the time
My car is a 560 1988 sl. I hope I can get somebody to help me with this. The issue is that as soon as I step on the brake pedal , the burned out bulb warning ligth onthe console, ligths on and stays on all the time. On checking the ligths , the third brake ligth (mounted on thr trunk lid) does not ligth up. I changed the bulb, but it still does not ligth. I checked the fuses, but they all seem ok. Obviously there is no juice to the ligth, but i do not know where to look now, or how to check the wiring. Can anybody help? I tried to search this web site, but no luck. Any ideas will be much appreciated.

The most common failure is the in wiring around the trunk hinge. After years of opening the trunk the flexing of the wires break them. Most people just put in a short patch wire once they find the open.

Thanks GSMITH
To update.
For months I was driving around with that annoying ligth. I had checked the wiring before, but because the wiring is covered with a cloth mesh, i did not see the break in the wiring. It was because of gsmith comment, that I checked more agressively. And yes, there it was rigth at the hinge, although I had to look through the soft top comparment to really see where the wire was bending. Once I found the break, of course, fixing it was a breeze. I did not realized how much that ligth was bothering me until I fixed it!. Thanks again gsmith |
