500sl grill

Has anyone tried replacing the 500sl grill with one off a different Benz? A lot of Mercedes seem to have very similar grill, is anything else interchangable? Even if I had to make some modifications, I would not mind trying.

I see a lot of different aftermarket designs, nothing for the 500sl though.

I've found some replacement aftermarket grills for around 4-500, but I am looking for something maybe a bit different, if not cheaper.

I just ordered a new 3-slot grille for my '95 R129. I saw it on a guy's who is in England and it really looks great. I got mine off eBay for $199 plus shipping, but if you buy it from the site, it costs $349 but free shipping.

Show me a picture when you get it installed. I like the looks, but would like to see one installed before shelling out the $$$.

So..................who has a picture of one installed? It looks good in the box, but how does it fit? Does it look like a foot high aluminum spoiler bolted to your trunk lid or a class upgrade to your R129!

I Just Put The 3-slot On My 00 Sl. It Extends Away From The Grille Shell Farther So You Have To Extend The Secondary Hood Release Mechanism In The Star. Don't Know If I Would Do It Again. Didn't Expect To Have To Modify Anything. Also I Personally Think It Would Look Better In Black On A Black Car. I Will Try To Post A Picture Later.
