Has this been done - direct cable to heater valve - W107 450

Ok since my heater valve is going south and my vaccum pod/vacuum system is weak, and essentailly non functional has anyone ever routed a cable direct to the heater valve and bypassed the vacuum system. would seem easy enough and I am under the understanding that this valve is off or on and no inbetween. Downsides?, anyone ever done it and if so what did you use?

These valves also come in electric models. I've seen them at AutoZone.

I've only seen them hanging in blister pacs. I suppose there are lots of different size inlet and outlet ports and various mounting schemes. Nothing generic. Perhaps some online research.....?
