New Grille

Not sure how many people here know about the new grille for the R129. Over the other forum, it has stirred quite a few people's interests. To say the least, I, being a purist was not very keen to do anything to the car. But I took the plunge and install the updated grille. Here are a few pictures of the car with it. Please give me your opinions and thank you.

Looks "ok" from here. I just replaced me 1990 500sl grill for $795.

What did you pay for it?

This is his web site. He sells it a little more from his site but with free shipping. Whereas, it is cheaper if you get it from eBay you have to pay shipping. His price has gone up from $149 since it is getting popular. I think it is a cheap way to update your car. I keep my OEM grille and when I get tired of this "new" look, I go back to the original look.

By the way, it took me 15 minutes all told to take the old one off and put the new one on.

I don't remember where I read it, but did you have to modify the hood safety latch arm? Someone said it was too short for the new grill. Am I dreaming I heard that?

You did not dream that. The original batch was shipped without the latch release. The OEM release is too short. Since then, Jason sent all of the buyers a longer latch release that is specifically work with the new grille. As I said, the entire installation took me 15 minutes. I did not take the OEM grille off till I received the latch release. Some guys couldn't wait and jerry rigged all sort of ways as temporary fix.

The new buyers will have the longer latch release as part of the package.
