Seeing lots of SL's for sale on CL in Portland, OR.

In the last couple of months I have noticed a lot of SL's for sale on CL here in the Portland OR area especially 107's. I've seen prices from around $2000 for real jalopies to low teens for nice examples. I've even seen some nice later model 107's going for less than $10K. Is this a national trend? Is it a good time to pick up a nice 107 or can I expect prices to continue to drop?

Since they're convertibles, there seems to be sell-offs at the beginning of the summer and at the end of the summer.

There is a world-wide glut of 107s - lots of cars and very few people that wish to own them.

I've always liked the 107's. I think they're the best looking SL's ever made. I also like the 113's but I doubt I could afford one of those models. If I were to consider buying an SL in the 107 line, which one is the best?

As with so many things in life, the answer is an unqualified "it depends".

Reliability would be the most important requirement.

Get the earliest years, lowest miles, smog exempt, such as the 72 350SL 3.5 4speed 102k miles I just picked up on craigslist in San Diego for $4,000

I've been attracted to the 500SL model mostly because AFAIK it has the most powerful engine.
