560SL Subframe Mounts

Has anyone done subframe mounts on a 560SL. Im reading the book and it's saying stuff like disconnect engine mounts and support engine. WTF??? cant I just remove the shroud, disconnect engine shocks and drop subframe and engine 3 inches. I know I'v done some Benzs like this 25 years ago or so, but I dont remember if any of them were 107's.

Thats how I did my 450sl. just dont forget to disconect the accelerator connector from the firewall to the intake manifold cause it will bend when you drop the subframe. I took off the bonnet and held the engine and subframe on a winch I have mounted in the roof, a lot easier than using floor jacks and probably safer

Thats what I figured. Why would they tell us to do all that crap. Good point about the accelerator. I have a 4 post lift with a rolling jack should be a piece of cake.

I did the front subframe mounts on my 88 560SL last year. I purchased a booklet from **************.com that was very good. Great explanation and pictures.

There was a write up with pics that explained how to replace by using threaded rod and washers/nuts to compress the bushing. After doing mine I realized this method would have made the job a breeze.

I can't seem to locate the instructions. Anyone know where to get?

Here is one of the write-ups I looked at when I did mine. While it is for another model I belive it will assist in making this job easier. It does explain the use of a threaded rod in place of the MB compression tool. http://www.diymbrepair.com/easley/sframe.htm

You might want to disconnect your front shocks and brake lines as well.
