1992 500SL Spring Question
I mentioned in a previous post that my son picked up the subject car and has been tinkering on some of the items that needed attention.
It appears that the previous owner did some screwy things with the Springs. In order to get a rakish look to the car they either cut (shortened) the front and rear springs or replaced them with a shorter set of springs. The problem is that this change has really affected the ride of the car. As well the tires are now the low profile type which I don't believe to be stock for the model? Besides damaging the air dam on a regular basis this seems to be a costly change and doesn't make a great deal of sense. Can the car be returned to specification? Is this a spring replacement or would something else have been modified to accept this change? Thanks as always! Tom

I'll bet they just cut the springs, which can be replaced with stock. Check with Fastlane, above, or the dealer can get them for you. I'll bet they aren't too expensive either way.
