Looks like Classicdyes.com is no longer in business. Tried to look up and it showed the domine is for sale.

Thanks Doug and Ben, appreciate the thoughts. looks like they probably are out of business, I have used leatherique products before on my old Jag so will probably go back to them but I believe the new jags (like the new mercedes) dont use aniline dyes but leather paint. time for more research!
cheers

Is this an easy job? If it's as easy as just bolting in a different seat, I'm going to the junkyard this afternoon. Does the seatbelt have to be modified?

My old seats were pretty shot (springing was gone but they looked OK) so now I sit about an inch higher, dont know if thats just because the old seats were so bad though. I also love the higher back and a usable headrest.

sorry to the perfectionists out there but I am really happy with them.

Took me a couple of hours. I pulled the old seats totally then made a new frame out of mild steel that bolted in where the original seat frame had been and then bolted the jag seats into the new frame. I have a subscription to alldata so looked up the wiring for the jag seats, just needed 2 wires, a ground and a live as all of the relays sensors etc are housed on the jag seat. the original seatbelt works fine just swapped over the receiver part of the seat belt. I am a big guy though and the belt is at the end of its adjustment so I am going to bolt on a receiver extension as it is difficult to get at now. probably a 10 minute job.

I have to add that the seat warmers are great, nothing like a warm bum with the top down in cold weather.
I am busy looking at adding some electric 2002 audi a4 seats to my friends mercedes for him and will also post pictures
cheers

Thanks. I'll do it sometime if I can get the parts together. But I would miss the armrest if I used the Jag seats...

I'd like to see the A4 seats when it gets done.

This looks like a good project to do. (replace the seats with the jag's) I would really like to see some pictures of both the installing and finished product. Are there any out there??

I can pull one of them this weekend and take pictures of the frame and the seat mounting if you like? just let me know dont mind taking the time if they would be of use. the wiring is really easy just 2 wires as all of the controls relays etc are built into the seat.
cheers

Barri, that would be great if you would do that. My seats are a bit weak and sag some. A replacement would be better than a rebuild job. I wll keep the original ones but since I use this as a Sunday cruiser in Oregon and everyday in AZ good seats are a must. Thanks for your ideas and help.

I rarely play the role of a Safety Nazi, but I'd make really d#$%$ sure that the seat/frame/bolt combination of any new seating is at least as strong as the original. Having one tear loose in an accident (and if you work out the numbers on the forces involved, they are amazing) would be really bad.

Hi Strife
really appreciate the concern and important to point out to anyone thinking of doing the same, these are not bolts from home depot and are higher than grade 8 nuts and bolts. I got mine from a local specialty supplier "Tacoma nut and screw". I think we are OK, the original seat rails are 12 gauge rolled mild steel and my rails are 2mm mild steel, they are bolted into the original mounting holes with the original bolts. The jag seats are secured to the rails with high tensile steel bolts with very high shear specs (around 12 tons as I remember, they are 10mm diameter high tensile with 1mm thread pitch). They are actually higher grade than the originals (grade 8) that Jaguar used to secure the seat. I also used the original torx bolt to secure the seat belt to the seat
good to keep this in mind if you decide to change
cheers

Seat swap

I like the idea of the jag seats but since I have other more important projects right now I opted to switch the seats. It entailed a little more than I expected but worked well and now my seat doesn't adjust itself and at the same time I was able to re-coat the floor boards under the seats for sound proofing and such. I haven't had to readjust the sdeat angle since the swap. Make sure you have something to heat the screws on the sides before you "Rap" them with a hammer to break the locktite!
