Check:
1. Fuses
2. Brake fluid level
3. Tires - are they worn?
4. Sometimes the system gets confused......as a last resort after you have checked everything, unhook battery to reset systems (remember to find your radio code card and pre-set stations BEFORE unhooking the battery).

IF light comes back on, then you have a mechanical problem.....
sometimes dirt gets stuck in the sensor and trips a warning light....

Do the brakes feel "mushy" or hard to operate?

This happened in my 1995 sl320. It was a worn brake sensor, which is a very inexpensive little part ($10 - $30 depending on where you buy). Bryan

According to the R129 diagnostic manual, if the ABS light is on this indicates a lack of power to the ABS module or a faulty module. The module gets power from the over-voltage protection relay, so be sure to check the fuse mounted in the top of that. Feel free to send me an email if you like.
