71 450SL floor pedal switch?

Can someone please tell me what the switch on the floor to the left of the brake pedal does? The car is new to me and not running yet so I can't "try" it. I figure it's a kick down of some sort, but the car has the standard down shift switch under the accelerator pedal. thanks, Andy

Yep, mine has two positiions. If you push it about halfway only the winshield washer operates, all the way and the wipers operate too. Personally I find this feature pointless as you want the water to spray and then the wipers to go for a few sweeps to clear it, not both stops together.

I changed my 75, 280 foot switch to the later turn signal stalk mount. Not a big deal wiring wise but the switch was not cheap. Let me know if you want a list of the changes required.
