Head light flasher not working

Have a '92 500sl. The head light flasher will not work. I have hi beams if i push the lever forward but if i try and pull it back toward me to flash my high beams it will not work? What do i need to check??

I had to replace the lever assembly on my '92. Like you, I had hi and low beams and turn signals, but no flash capability. I also lost the intermitent position on the wipers. I think you are looking at a new lever.

Thanks, I was hoping it was a fuse or something like that. Oh well. Appreciate your input. Thanks again.

on my 1990 300sl the flasher is on the same fuse cicuit as the wipers.Do they work? If not could be a fuse situation. But then I have had to replace the combo switch ,seems like a weak link this part

Thanks Tom R. I will ck my wipers. I have to take the car to vegas next week to get the belt tightened. it is starting to squeel big time. when i do, i will have them ck out the hi beam flasher situation. Thanks for your input.

My belt tensioner failed and the fan belt got so loose that the water pump, alternator, power steering. air pump and air conditioner compressor all were not turning properly. The tensioner reaches a point where the rubber inside it just gives up and it pretty much goes limp. No amount of tightening it helps. Watch your alternator light. If the alternator is slipping than the water pump may be as well and you don't want to drive too far without the water pump turning.

I agree 100% with Tecqboy. My belt tensioner failed as well. First sign is squealing like heck. Next is stuff stops turning.:behead: You don't want to get to that point driving in Vegas:eek:
There are no other adjustments for the belt. The tensioner does it all. A new tensioner is easy to get and not too expensive.

As for the dimmer situation. I forgot about the combination relay in the rack behind your fuses. It could also be causing the problem.
