Transmission Cooling Line Leak?
While under my 560SL, I noticed what looks like some tranmission fluid leaking from the metal line that runs from the transmission to the radiator, on the passenger side of the engine. I have not removed anything, but it appears that the leak may be at the clamp that holds the line in place. This clamp is around the line and fastened to one of the oil pan bolts. It looks like the clamp has a thin rubber insert. Has anyone heard of a line leak at this spot? Could the clamp have worn through the line due to vibration? In any case, it does not look like this line is readily avaiable. Does anyone have a recommended fix? Maybe cut the line and splice in a rubber hose with clamps? Or and in-line compression connector?

I'll throw in my .02 that this would be extremely odd since the line does not move and is very solidly held in place by the clamps. I would look around - maybe the leak is in the rubber hose that connects to the radiator and the fluid is blowing back?

I checked the fluid with a white napkin, and it looked like motor oil. Furthur inspection showed the line to be solidly fixed at the clamps. Looks like a bit of oil is seeping from the pan gasket, runs down the line and collects at the clamp. Oil can always seem to travel. Thanks for the help.
