Results! My 450SL back on the Road!
So it took me about three months total, and as most know here , many questions later, but she is back on the road. The refurbished injectors have made a world of difference in performance, I have replaced all the rubber components of the fuel, air and water system, replaced all the sensors, cleaned and adjusted or replaced points, plugs as well as trigger points. Radiator re cored, new transmission lines and perhaps the greatest victory of all was that I was able to figure out all the disconnected vacuum lines and rebuild my heater microswitches and now I have perfectly functioning vacuum, heater valve and flaps. I was able to eliminate the PO bypasses! I also re stuffed the seats, and replaced all the rubber lines on the gas bypass system , so no more gas smells. She is a dream to drive. The PO had all new suspension parts, shocks and brake system rebuilt so I suspect it is as close to new as I will ever get her . Now the fun – drive drive drive….. at least until the next question arises! thanks everyone :D

OK I am very pleased but I seem to have developed a miss on acceleration and at idle. lots of power but this is anoying,I have searched till I am cross eyed , there are so many possbilities:dizzy2:
Injectors done, all lines refurbished, plugs points cap ect , so I am thinking adjustment of some sort? ECU ( egad ).:dizzy2: It does smell a bit rich but the ECU dial is turned to the "all lean " side. If I wanted to play with timing , would I advance or retard? |
Congratulations
Any pictures?
Regards, Randy Kasal |
wrong ignition timing would not make it miss, imho.
