1997 SL320 R129 Rooftop and Rollbar light on

After a partially charged battery would not start the car this morning I had to start the car with a jump.Car started first time but now the Rooftop red switch/light and the Rollbar light are on permanently.Otherwise no other problems.Hard top has been in place a while so I doubt this is the problem.Do these lights now need to be reset owing to a low battery condition. As this is a UK model no OBD11 socket only 38pin diagnostic socket which I cannot locate.I have scantools handheld unit which I may be able to use if its just a reset required.

Can anyone help on this one. Most of the advice is for pre 95 models.

Just to update on the problem.

Tried all the previous suggestions on the site and I finally used the suggestion of disconnecting the battery for 3 minutes. You guessed it.Everything back to normal.Rooftop switch and Rollbar switch no longer lit permanently.Again thanks to all the advice supplied by members.I was told the earliest the Main Dealer could look at the problem was next Wednesday week and I was probably looking at big bucks to fix the problem.

BTW I have Trisco Scantools hand held diagnostics unit.No seperate OBD socket in the cabin all built into the 39 pin plug in the engine bay.Tried to read the fault codes for RB and RST.Message "err reading codes" came but it allowed me to clear codes. That still did not solve the problem.Anyone familiar with the Trisco diagnostic unit.I would like to learn more on its use as the Taiwanese "manual" it came with is crap.

The only way to read or reset the 'soft top and rollbar controller' is with the very expensive, $2,000.00, M-B scan tool. That's why it is suggested that you pay either a M-B dealer or an Indy to read those codes. There are $200.00 scan tools that can read all of your MY 1997 codes but they are unable to read the top 'controller' system.
