Help needed

New to Forum.First time owner of 1981/380SL.My wipers will not settle in the down position (against bottom of windshield) when I shut wipers off.Can it be the windshield wiper relay? If so, where is it actually located?Or could it be the directional/wiper switch assembly or possibly both? Also,is there a contact out there that has an assembly manual for my car?The type of assembly manual I'm looking for would have diagrams of all the parts, part numbers, etc.Really appreciate everyones help.

Parking position is done thru the motor.

Many SL's have with the wiper bellcrank comming loose from it's mount & causing problems.

I had the same problem on my 1980, it was the relay. Swapped it out and all was good. Relay was mounted above the brake pedal on the firewall. 1981 might be different though.

Make sure you're expecting them to land in the right place, which is not all the way down to the lower edge of the windshield. On mine, the end of the wiper arm where it connects to the center of the blade is almost 2" from the windshield frame. When I first got the car, I wondered if this was correct but it's fully to spec.
