HELP! with getting soft top down

Need info from all of you wise folks who may have had this problem.

It is hard to turn the handle to allow the soft top to go down. Something is stuck inside that prevents this from happening.

I had not driven the car in over 8 months, and I have not had this problem in the past.

Anyone have any advice to share I would greatly appreciate it.

THANKS!

Are you talking about the big crank that tightens and releases the roof cable?
Or the latch that releases the rear pin?
Or the action to unlatch the boot?

dugald,

I am talking about the large silver lever, located in the back on the drivers side. It moves to some positions but it does not move all the way to allow the storage compartment to click open.

Seems to be stuck or something. I assume I am doing it right. Trying to save taking it to MB dealer to get soft top down so I can put on the hard top.

THANKS for responding, wow!

This is my first time on an MB forum, and I am happy I found it.

So, your soft top is up, and you can't release the rear latch pin? Or is the rear latch pin released, allowing you to lift up the rear of the top, but you can't get the 2 storage lid catches to release?

Not sure if you are putting levers in correct positions. Try reading this link and let us know if it works out.
