Trying to narrow down my problem, car starts perfectly, after 5 minutes idling the car runs rich idle is rough, and vacume guage comes up to half or more, will not stall and when you give her gas she clears but has hesitation and slight miss, she will run on highway but has no power on the hills,I appreicate the help you have given , but do not want to just throw parts at the car, that warm up regulater sounds like a good place to start, where is it located, my shop manual has not arrived yet..... Thanks Mike

Check your throttle bushings. They may be worn out and cause some problems with the settings on the fuel injectors. My SL ran terrible and the mechanic replaced thosee bushing and it ran fine afterwards. Like a new one(almost)

for O-Zone

Your vacuum gage should be pegged to the left at idle. I think you have a vacuum leak in addition to any other problems. The vacuum line that feeds that gage enters the firewall on the driver's side. It is one out put from a one-in three-out vacuum connector. The single line that feeds that connector runs across the top of the firewall and down to the intake manifold at the rear between the firewall and the rear of the engine. There is a flexible, rubber connector between the hard vacuum line and the vacuum port on the intake manifold. That rubber connector lives in an oil-rich environment and is vulnerable to rot. I replaced mine with a piece of thick wall plastic tubing. The result was full function of the vacuum gage and a smooth idle. Access is tough to that vacuum port. You need small hands and a lot of patience.

There are of course many other potential vacuum leak sources but that one worked for me. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, I spent the day searching for vacume leaks and found 2, car runs better when warm, but seems symptoms have reversed, now runs rough when cold, have new O 2 sensor this might help, still runs rich although no smoke, check air intake adjustment under air filter, just read this on another post........Thanks Mike

Is the tank strainer job the same for the 123, 124 and others? I can't see where the strainer comes out of the bottom of the tank - is this a 'remove tank' job? If it's easy to clean the strainer then I'm fine trying that, even a few times, as opposed to removing the tank. I just don't see that the strainer comes out.
