96 SL500 Removerable Hardtop Head Liner Came Lose

I keep my removerable hardtop standing up on a portable hardtop stand in the gargage in from April until late November. When I pulled off the gray cover, I found that the roof liner to the top had pulled away from the black rubber seal in the front of the roof and hung about six inches. You could see sticky yellow type adhesive from which the liner had puller away.

Trying to smooth the liner back on to the top by pressing it down on the yellow stuff did not work. With the top standing up in the stand, the weight of the liner kept pulling the front out from under the rubber seal.

Question:
1. Since the car is 11 years old, was this to be expected.

2. What do you recommend for bonding the liner back to the top expecially at the rubber seal on the front of the top where the liner firts under. I am assuming that you need fix it all over the inside of the top so that it does not sag when the top is on the car.

3. Should I just take it to a convertible top shop??

Thanks

Haven't heard of that problem, but an upholstery shop would probably be your best bet.
