Parts question

I was given my mom's SL, I haven't driven it in a year or 2 as I need to buy a battery and do a few other maint items. I want to get it ready to drive in the Spring when driving with the top down is enjoyable, not too hot, not too cold.

It is an 84 Euro 280SL (W107) in great condition. The initial job of finding parts for it is a bit difficult since I don't know what to ask for. My parents always took it to someone who knew what parts to use. I'd gladly order from our forum sponsor but I don't know what parts to order. I was told to get parts for a 78 280SE. I don't remember if that is exactly correct.

I was basically going to change the battery (it's humongus) and ALL the fluids in it engine oil, coolant, maybe even the trans and rear end. I also have to remove the gauge cluster (been doing searches on that) since the odometer isn't working. Luckily I found a specialist here in town.

Thx

Thanks for the heads up, the battery is no problem I bought one for this car before. It used to eat batteries but my parents mechanic found the problem.

I just fought the spiders and checked the spedo, it has 52095 on it. It's an 84 but my parents bought it in like 86 or 87. They didn't drive it much either. To tell you the truth, it's kind of a dog and is uncomfortable. The good thing is that the people who see you driving it don't know that. My best guess is that the car has about 65K-70K on it.

I'm in Austin, I guess I should update my profile. I saw this guy's ad in Hemmings http://www.speedometer.com/mercedes.html , it just so happened that he was here in town.
