So....are parts available? Hardtop looks fairly good

Similar thing here in DE. Old rural road along the river(rt. 9) near Taylors Bridge took a strong turn before actually reaching the bridge. Missing the turn resulted in a bath. A few years ago Police were searching for a missing young lady, found her and a few more cars they weren't expecting.

I think the Florida state constitution guarantees the rights of scammers of all kinds to conduct business unimpeded in the state.

That's nothing... just dredge the East River in NYC or the Meadowlands in NJ and you will find thousands of Mafia coffins

Odd, that car was in WARM water for several years and shows little if no rusting? And the bumpers are still...almost shiny?

Here's the "official" update:
http://xml.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/palmbeach/sfl-1226manincanal,0,7234615.story

They say the then 42 year-old man, who was taking a prescription pain medication for his back, went off the road by accident because there was no sign of foul play. He was apparently seatbelted in the car.

I don't believe it because:
1. Palm Beach police are on a par with Beverly Hills Cops and Reno 911, and
2. Take a look at the map. The "20000 block" of Lox road is just the Everglades. Who takes their hot SL on a joyride there , especially without anyone else knowing?

Here's the follow-up article. Sounds like he usually took that road, so maybe it was an accident.
