SLC wheel questions.........

I'm going to opt for an updated wheel set for my newly acquired 1980 280 SLC.

The whole wheel/tire size, offsets, hub centric, etc... terms confuse me.

What is my current wheel offset? Does ET mean offset?

I want it to look good [i.e; ~ proper stance and not gawdy] while hopefully retaining the classic looks. I was thinking a new style Mercedes factory wheel would look best but possibly a retro after market style such as Ronal or maybe spoked/wires [uhhh, maybe not]??

It has the 15" "bundt" style alloys on it now with a 5th like new, shiny spare in the trunk.

Are the factory wheels worth anything? It's a Euro version if that makes any difference. I was thinking eBay but I didn't see any to reference.

I've looked online [and in this sites gallery] at photos and have seen some I really like and some that just look awful IMO.

Any help appreciated!

No the 15" bundts are about worthless, I will be glad to take them off your hands.

Just kidding, if you actually have a set of 15" bundts there very desirable and worth quite a lot.

If you have them you will be able to sell them off (but that is not really a good idea because it is such a rare option it will make the car worth more with them on it) and buy about whatever wheels and tires you want.

I went out this am in the pouring rain to double check and they're in fact 14" wheels, having 195-70-R14 tires on them.

I had even responded to "boardmonger" a few days ago in response to a post of his concerning a trade for 15" bundts. I wondered why he would want the boring factory wheels [IMO] versus what he has.

I like those Ronal wheels and others with the deep dish/wider stance [=less offset ~?~ am I getting it right] effect.

I'll still sell the (5) 14" wheels if anyone is interested. If I put them on eBay, what should I expect for them?

from 25 to 40 for scruffy but straight wheels. for wheels clean and freshly painted maybe up to 100 ea.

I am guessing you don't have the original alloys, such as the one I have pictured here. I suggest these. And you do have the correct size tires. You have to keep in mind that the more you pimp up your wheels, the less tire material, which translates into a rougher ride and greater frequency of new tire purchases. And if you want wider tires, be prepared to spend more on gasoline.
