SL Hardtops
 

Hey Guys!

Well, it has come to my attention that we have over 20 vintage SL hardtops in our storage facility that have gon unclaimed for 5+ years. Please, if anyone needs an SL hardtop please let me know. We have hardtops from 1970's up to the late 90's. All different colors. I do not know if we will sell them or give them away, but I thought I would give you guys a shot to see who needs anything. Even though I work for corporate, I am just offering some help. Please don't flag, this is not for the financial interest of Mercedes-Benz USA. I will try to get pictures as soon as possible.

If this is legit?????, I could use one for a 1982 380sl. I'd like to see a picture first. Also, how about a phone number.

Yes, it's legit- at this moment I am waiting on the full inventory. I am aware of a hardtop that would fit your car in signal red that is in storage. More details to come guys. I am just waiting on the go for specifically what we are doing with them. As you can imagine, we are in manhattan, and most people have no room for their hardtops in the summer, thus we stored them as courteousy. Over the years, i guess people just forgot about them...

Wouldn't have a panoramic top for a 129 would you?

Yes, I saw one in white back there- but i am SURE an employee will walk away with that one...

Even if you don't NEED a hardtop, it might be worth getting one as a spare. I know this because I've priced the "little parts" on the hardtops - the brightwork on the bottoms of the windows, the locks...a few hundred here, several hundred there, and pretty soon, you are talking about money. I'm driving 600 round-trip miles to get a hardtop because I got a good deal on it (bad headliner) and I need two pieces of brightwork.

Well, if he doesn't, please let me know.

Hi Mike - I just got my first SL last month and it's been off the road for the Winter, sign me up for a Pano too.

My car W107 is silver too, but I would live with a blue hardtop is you don't have a second Astral Silver one going spare

I could use one of those hardtops,too, ideally in black, but I'd be willing to have one painted. I could also pick it up in NYC, which would save you the problem of shipping it out.

its red... but the car is going in for paint... so it doesn't matter.

I would want a panorama hard top for my r129 silver if possible...

I need a pano top in sky blue for my SL 300 1991 and a the soft top in blue the outer cover with glass only can you please advise if possible and how much to ship it over to the UK please

I just have a quick question. Has anyone actually received one of these hardtops that might be given away. I started following this post when it was first posted and since then, I haven't heard of anyone actually receiving one of these tops. Just wondering!

I'm half tempted to tell you all I got one. That would get this thread doing. My guess is he has half a doesen tops and 3000 people that want them.

I have an 89 Sl with 200 miles on it for sale for $1050.00 the only thing wrong is I don't have the hard top!!!!

Yeah, but in what condition is the soft top, huh.............

on the legal side, we have to have a "signed release" from every customer with a 90-day time allowance for every top. So far we have received nothing but bunch of return letters, and it hasn't been 90 days yet...

I'll keep ya posted- I never realized how many people had SL's with no hard tops!!!!

FYI- NO PANO ROOFS GUYS!!!!
