1991 500SL alternator R&R

Hello out there! still no repy! can anyone direct to information on how to R&R my alternator? Will appreciate any information THANKS

You can replace only the regulator on it, and it works.

Here is what needs to be done to R&R an alternator.

I assume you have the tools and know how to do these things.

You may or may not need to do all of the steps listed depending on the condition of your unit.

1. Disassemble the unit and replace the bearings.
2. machine the slip rings if needed.
3. Check / replace the diode assembly.
4. Replace the regulator and brush assembly.
5. Load test the alternator.

replace my alternator 1991 500SL

Thanks for your response DPETRYK..I wasnt talking about taking the alternator apart. I was refering to Remove and replace (R&R) alternator in my vehicle..It looks like several things have to removed to do this job. anyadvice would be appreciated. THANKS GUYS!

1.Remove battery neg. poll.
2.rem.fan shroud.
3.rem. viscous fan.
4. rem. belt, set tension er point at two, depending on car version.
5.rem. two electr. wires on altern.
6. rem. two bolds holding the altern.
7. it is all yours.

remove alternator

thanks for the information AAM. the reason im replacing it is no voltage output.

Replace the regulator it comes with brasses.
It will take care of your problem.
Been there did that.
