R129 - Periodical vacuum pump action

I was wondering if this is normal:

My vacuum pump - on the right side of the trunk with all the yellow lines going off - is "pumping" in periodical intervals.
- Only occurs when motor is running or ignition key is in position 2.
- Happens about every 45 seconds for the duration of 3 seconds.
- Doesn't matter if car is locked or not, either from door or from inside.
- All compartments and doors are locking as expected.
- It's kind of annoying.

Thanks in advance - have a great day - Dirk

Near the vacuum pump is the vacuum distribution manifold. All the lines terminate there. Some actuator or line is leaking. There are more actuators than you might think; like the one that locks the gas tank door. The hard lines get brittle and crack, Rubber coupler pieces rot and leak. Actuators leak. Get a hand vacuum pump and check each line at the manifold for leak down. The system has several check valves and they are known to fail from time to time as well. I'm sorry I don't have a vacuum diagram, but perhaps someone who does can post it.
