Attempting to Fix Odometer
I have a 1979 450Sl. The odometer works occasionally when the car is cold then it stops. I read a lot of the threads and the DIY help. I removed the odometer and inspected the different gears. None of them appeared to be slipping. One looked like it was practically new. Any one have any ideas on how to proceed?

Buy a new one. End of story.

I presume that is one of the older, cable-driven units? Find a suitable bit, a small robertson IIRC, put your drill in reverse, and observe the odometer gears and shaft as it turns. It should start to slip, so you can determine which part is at fault.
