107 windshield replacement

Have done some searching, not much coming up in terms of windshield replacement advice. Specifically, do people have opinions about brands or places to buy a windshield, preferences for installers, techniques for making the installation a success, etc?
I understand the windshield is mainly glued in place; for those of you who have had this done, what kind of results have you gotten?

Thanks, JAS

The only windshields I've messed much with are ones held in by gaskets, which are a whole lot easier to deal with for a DIY'er. For the price of a new windshield and the cost of installation, I would not even mess with doing it myself on ones that are glued in. The experts can do it so much quicker and have the right tools and sealant. And the prices really aren't that bad if you price around. Also, I wouldn't even attempt to try and salvage a glued-in one from a junkyard, again due to the low price of many new windshields and because I would most likely break it getting it out anyway.

Even when it comes to windshields...you get what you pay for. Buy cheap, and watch it pit and haze before your eyes. Literally. Buy well and you will have years of service. The original windshield in my SL has almost 150k on it and is still in acceptable condition......
Feel free to remove the old one yourself but get a pro to install and shoulder the responsibility if HE cracks it on install.
