280SL (Euro) sun visor

The passenger side sun visor on my 85 280SL Euro (same as US 380SL) flops down because the ball in the socket that attaches to the windshield trim is loose. Any tips how to fix this problem? If I have to remove the entire visor how do I do this? I did remove the single screw that holds it to the trim but it is still on there very tightly. Does it come off by force or pulling? Thanks for any info......Desert

On mine there's a screw that you tighten ever so slightly to add resistance to the visor's movement. You don't take anything apart, just adjust the tension. If I remember correctly, there are two screws that you see while sitting in the seat. It's the screw closer to the side window.

Thanks for the info, mine has only one screw but I backed it off a little and that did tighten up the ball in the socket some. I would still like to know how to remove the visor bracket from the windshied trim if any one knows how without forcing it off. When I remove the single screw on the trim it still seems attached like it might be glued on. Any ideas?

I had to replace the screw in mine that tightens that down. The head was stripped out and I couldn't tighten it enough to get it to work properly. I went to a marine supply store and got a metric screw with a hex head. That worked great. I also remembered a tip I read somewhere (can't remember where, just remember the tip) to cut a small piece of leather and slide it between the ball and the metal. That worked great. My visor moves fairly easily, but it stays exactly where I put it.

Thanks for the info, I've been out of town for a few days so sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.
