A couple of things

I think that I have gotten my ’97 560 to run very nicely except for a couple of things I want to run by you experts.

When I start the engine everything is good but after 15-20 secs I start to hear a slight tick’ing for cylinder 3 or 4. It stays there while the car is running (doesn’t go away when warm). My thinking is that the thrust pieces might be worn and need to be adjusted. The MB job in the manual is 05-213. Does that sound about right? When I had the valve covers off while changing the chain and oiler rails I did check to see if there were any grooves in the cam lobe and there wasn’t.

The other thing is that when the engine is running – and warm – there is a slight variation on the idle RPM. It goes up and down maybe +/- 25 RPM. Any thoughts what that might be? Otherwise the motor idles around 600 RPM and 500 while in ‘D’.

Thanks,
