Climate Control Questions?
 

Phil Here, Please, Can someone tell me why my Climate Control on my 1992 500SL aways starts out in the "Automatic" Mode? When I turn on the SL, I have to press the "0" or Off button. I also can not understand how to run my SL. in the Economy Mode and have the Blower option?

I know how to read my owners manual but it still does not function to my liking. Can someone walk me through getting fresh air int my SL. without engaging the A/C compressor? Is my Climate Control malfunctioning or do I have to put some sort of " Codes" in the Machine?

Phil:
To get fresh air without air conditioning, engage your "economy" mode and roll your temperature control as far as possible into the cold (blue) area without clicking over to the maximum position. In economy mode, the air conditioning compressor never turns on. If you click into the maximum position it shuts off outside air.
As to why you always start in automatic mode, I have no clue.
