W107 leather door trims?

Would anyone know if any w107's that came optioned with leather interior, would be limited to the just seats being leather, or would the door trims, rear quarter trim and soft top cover be trimed in leather also?

Looking at most door trims I have seen they seem to be heat pressed instead of real stitching which would mean they would have to be MBtex.

Were there Leather versions that had real stitching?

R107 models only had leather on the seats. Door panels, dash, steering wheel were MB Tex (the cloth interiors offered outside the USA may have cloth inserts in the door panels...not sure on this). Leather door panels, etc. ended with the W113 series.

Thanks JPMOSE,

Yeah, My car is a Euro version and it has cloth inserts in the door panels aswell as the seats.

I was looking at puting a new interior in it. I have found a leather seat option, but all the door trims etc, look like they are MBtex, so I was starting to believe that maybe only the seats were leather. I just wanted someone to confirm this.

Thanks

Damian

Aftermarket leather door panels and armrests are available from GAHH (and maybe other outfits).

Melted Panda's SL is a 1972...maybe leather was offered in the very early years? I will look at the EPC tonight and see if there's any reference to leather door panels.

Ron,

Since you have a 1972....most 350SLs I have ever seen have manual windows. Did MB offer power windows from the onset of R107 production or was it offered starting in 1973? I don't have 1972 literature. Thanks.

mine are manual, I think they started in 73 with power , but I am not sure. I have seen some varriations even in the 72's . The PO of this one told me it was bought in Germany and shipped at a later date to the states. It is not a Euro version, but is as I mentioned early off the line, production number 542

Thanks for all your input.

Has anyone ever replaced there doortrims with after market ones?

Some places are offering heat pressed ones like original, but they seem to look all bunched up with wrinkles like my original ones. Maybe this will go away with some good foam padding.

When the seats come in leather is the grain similar to that of the MBtex, so they match fairly well? Has anyone got any close up pictures? of the seats in leather?

Thanks again

Damian

I stand corrected ( who me ) my original build sheet says MB tex. Mine are now leather and are high quality and look perfect. The PO tells me he paid well over $1500 for the leather interior

here is a picture of my all leather interior

$1500+ is a great price if it included the door panels! I just paid $2200 for the leather seats (including arm rest, head rests and seat backs)...but that also included four new MB seat pads. I also replaced the seat belt receptacles because the red buttons were so faded (a little over the top I admit it!).

well it was a few years back, so your price may not be far off.
