Transmission diagnosis please? 82 380SL...
Car has about 102 K miles.
Transmission has fluid weep - tech who inspected it suspected poss torque converter oil seal issue. Drips a couple of spots a week - no serious loss of fluid. Symptoms - short slip (engine rpm blips upwards) when shifting into second when (a) tranny is cold and (b) you accelerate briskly. Problem reduces but does not completely go away as tranny warms up..... Car sat for a year and only recently regularly driven. Have not touched tranny yet in any way other than checking fluid level. |

Check to see if you have a vacume line running to your transmission. I have a 1974 450 SL and I don't know about your vintage, but if you have a vacume line then your problem could be either a vacume leak or the vacume diaphragm may not be working. You can remove the vacume cell from the side of the transmission and apply a vacume to it to see if the pin moves in and out. On my car this unit was bad and caused it to shift very roughly from first to second........Dan
