SL questions

I am looking for a little info from one of you die hard SL guys. Is there an american SL with a manual trans? If so, what year did they change from the clutch fork to a slave cylinder on the side on the trans if they changed at all. im looking for this bellhousing. It looks like an sl housing but it has a hydraulic slave on the side like the w123.

I don't understand the question the ones with the slave cylinder also have a clutch fork.

sorry it is hard to explain. the "clutch fork" ones I am referring to have a open ended fork and pivot outside the bell, the other type, like the w123 has a lever that pivots on a ball with the slave an equal distance on the other side of the throwout bearing. If the "fork" type also use a slave cylinder maybe that type of bell will work ok after all. the question is did they make a casting with the 4 bolt early trans mount and the closed lever type of throw out arrangement?

To my knowledge, Mercedes never imported a manual transmission 107 (SL) to the US. If you find one, its gray market. A nice option, though.
