Central Lock Vac Diagram and Convertible Boot Gasket

Need some help guys! First, this is on a 76 450sl R107.

1. Does anyone have a diagram of the central vac locking system? I had one at one time but misplaced it and need it...go figure. If anyone has one or know where to go to find it I would be greatly appreciative. I did a quick search on here but couldn't find it.

2. Has anyone replaced the gasket that goes around the convertible cover boot? I have the gasket, but cannot figure out how the old one is removed and the new one is installed. The others have been quite simple, but this one almost appears to be molded into the sheet metal and I cannot seem to separate the two. I didn't want to force anything out but I guess if no one else knows I may have to force out a section and see what happens.....

PM me. I've got one. I don't know about the top gasket. You're going to need a service manual CD at some point.

That gasket is glued in, and has to be pried away from the metal. You can then use the 3M contact cement designed for fastening car moldings to install the new gasket. However, based on my experience, you should only use an original MB gasket, which has cloth bound to rubber, as the all rubber after-market replacement I orginally tried fit poorly and was too flimsy.

Good luck
