85 280SL Lambda problems

Hello, I'm new to this forum but been reading the threads for six month, great stuff. I have a 85 280SL Euro with the M110 engine. After replacing the valve stem seals and other issues I have the car running great. The problems I have are the cold start valve and the frequency valve are not getting 12 volts. During cold start, I'm only getting less than 1 volt at the cold start valve when cranking the engine. When the engine is at operating temp., I'm only getting less than 1 volt to the frequency valve. I replaced the oxygen sensor and low voltage protection relay. The oil temp switch and the thermo time switch appears to be working. Has anyone experience similar problems. I would appreciate any advice
Thanks
Jim

Cat or not cat

Hi Jim

Not sure about the actual problem BUT the EURO SL107 was not actually designed for a CAT and Lambda sensor set up . These were only put in when imported - I've read posts where US SL owners have "restored" their EURO models to "pre-import" state. I know that comparing the performace data between US modified 300SL and and my UK model it looks to be a "no-brainer" to put it back to original standard if you can get away with it in your particular State so I guess with the 280 it would give even more advantage.

Cheers

Another Jim

I tend to agree with you. I fixed my voltage problem and the Lambda system is functioning, However, trying to adjust the idle between cold and hot is frustrating. Ran better in the "Pre-Import" mode. Besides, I believe my CAT is shot from it's oil burning days.
