Trick to replacing fuese?

My 1987, 560 SL was designed for an elf to work on. The fuse box is nearly inaccessible for a normal sized guy, so I have fits replacing fuses. Have any of you found a "trick" to reinstalling those buggers or is it just "sweat-until-you-get-the-job-done?"

I move the passenger seat back and sort of lay on my left side across the door sill. You may want to put a plastic crate upside down next to the open door to help support your body. I am not too big, so I am partly on the garage floor. As I remember, your left hand is best for getting to the fuses (which is lousey for us righties).

Thanks. . . that's what i'm doing but I can't get the @#%$& fuses in without break them. Then I have one fuse with a green wire on kind of a spade terminal the goes under the fuse. I need three miniature hands to get the fuse in with the wire under it. Those Germans may be smart automotive engineers but they don't know diddle about servicing some of the simplest tasks. Anybody want to buy 1987 560SL?

A pair of needle nose pliers helps. It's not that bad, just takes a little practice.

I have a ceramic fuse puller that works great.

Can't say where to buy one, I found it in the tool kit in one of my cars....

It's black plastic, and the jaws are shaped for the diameter of the fuse barrel.

One of my most coveted tools...

Jim

What color? Come on, your not gonna let some stupid little fuse kick your butt now are you? Now get back out there and have at it! We'll be standing by for the "Victory Dance," on the 11:00p.m. News.

I totally agree, the fuses are are a royal PITA. What I do is grip it with needle nosers, turn it so the metal strip is facing the box (so it won't get pulled off at the ends when it catches the spring holders), insert the top end first while pushing up on the holder, then drop the bottom into the lower holder. When fully inserted, turn the bugger around so the metal strip is facing out.
