temperature guage for 83 380 SL
Hi,
I'm interested in adding a temperature guage to the middle vent of my 83 380 SL. I saw a guage for sale on e-bay and wanted to know what else I need to install the guage to make it functional as well as the difficulty involved in doing so. I am not very mechanically inclined. Thanks |
what wrong with your original gauge on the dash?
|
Nothing.
It's a celcius guage and I like the way it looks. |
He's asking about the external temp gage that is in the later R107 SLs.
Early R107s had the clock in the same location.... Jim |
You would need to power and light it, and wire the external temperature sensor that is located on the front license plate frame to it, through the firewall. The connector on the back is somewhat unique. Wiring through the firewall (and resealing everything) is a PITA.
There is a rubber vent connector behind the dash that has 3 outlets in your car and two in later cars with no gauge outlet). You would have to replace this or block the vent pretty thoroughly, otherwise your heating/cooling would be compromised. |
Thanks for your thorough answer Strife.
