SL Help (That's Why I Am Here) on 2

Hi All,

I am in the middle of missing my 450SL. I have a seller with an 89 450SL & a 94 SL500 who I can trade with and get cash back.
I know the 450SL pretty well but I know nothing about the 94 SL500.
I know that the motor on the 450SL is good to at least 250k is the SL500?
If I were to buy these two it would cost me $8,500.00 each and I would get cash back.
He is the original owner of the 450 SL Black/Palamino 100k with all records.
Second owner of SL500 green/white 105k records lost
I know that once the 450 is in excellent running shape then it is great car for a long time, is the 94?
Any advice I will be thankful for.
I am trying to past a photo of each.

Thanks
Jack

What's wrong with the front bumper on the 450SL? It looks like it has been pushed up on the passenger side, maybe an accident? I do think $8500.00 is a tad much for that car.

well I am partial to W107 just because I love the looks and I think they are much easier to work on. Service history is key, Id take one with a service record over one that does not.
But I agree 8500 is a bit much for the 450.

Records lost? I'd be tempted by the 500SL, but the 450 (460?) might be a safer buy? Don't know about the price; if it's good for you, then it's good. Ned

Anyone considering a purchase of an ASR car should do a search above for "ASR light" and then spend a few hours reading the threads. A 119 motor is very long lasting motor, both top and bottom end, but over the course of 250k miles you could spend hundreds of hours diagnosing ASR faults.

I'm partial to the 107 and if you have the cash on hand I'm sure you can lower the price. As for the 500 I'd ask about the wiring harness, if it's been replaced yet they were a bit of a bugger from 94 to 96.

He also has a 1990 300SL with a 5 spd with 103k. How are the 300Sl motors?
I like the 107's too and especially the 79 & 80 450's.
I wanted to get the 79 for me and the other for the wife.

Thanks
Jack
