1986 560SL--just bought it and have questions

I just picked up a 78K mile 1896 560SL for $5K--maroon with palamino interior--beautiful car and am trying to learn all I can about it.

I have some questions for you all that have figured it out or have an owner's manual:

How do I turn on the driving lights?

Are there any repro or PDF owner manuals out there?

What is the best source for new leather for the seats? Is it a DIY job at all? (I have restoration experience with US cars...some of the basic skills will hopefully transfer)

1. Driving lights: They are not driving lights, they are fog lights. To turn them on pull outward on the headlight switch.

2. Manuals: Several sources including "mercedesmanuals.com" and of course e-bay. The owner's manual is available in paper but the repair manual only on CD. The CD also includes the owner's manual as well as repair information.

3. Leather source: again, several. Includes World Upholstery (web site) and of course e-bay.

4. Your question from another posting irt holding center vent open. Gently insert the dowel directly through one of the center vents until you feel it touch the closed flap (about 8"). An easy push will open both vents. The air conditioner must be on and the dowel must be left in place. When you remove it the vents will close. TEMPORARY FIX to bypass normal operation.

Your headlights need to be on to activate the fogs.

Shutting off the lights will pull the switch back in, turning off the fogs.
