overhead interior lights w/screen 450 sl

I have the interior pieces to go to the top of the windscreen they have the holes where the interior lights go.I need to know whether the wiring for them runs inside the metal tubing and do I need to cut the rectangular holes in the steel for lights.Any info appreciated since my SL did not have these lights from factory.

they run down the side rails , i just took out a set in the 380 parts car, thought about putting them in my early 450 , but not sure it is worth taking it all apart, I dont think you need to alter the metal but I can look tonight to make sure.

Hey thanks for replying.Ok so the wiring runs up the side pillars on the outside thanks for that info.If you could look at your vehicle to see where the wires go across the top of the screen and whether i need to remove metal for the rectangular lights to locate in.Once again thanks helping out.:):):):)

wires run inside the side pillars, on the 380 parts car on the rail where the lights fo there are cut out for the lights, I am not sure if yours will have these cut outs. you may just have to look, take off rear view mirror and screws for base , you may be able to peer in with a strong light and see if your does. I suspect if yours is an early 450 it will not
probably could be made to fit
good luck

Hey Ron ,
thanks for looking at your parts car. It looks like I have to remove some metal for the interior lights. You assumed rightly that my 450 being an early version does not have these retangular holes for the interior lights.I have removed the interior trim on either side of the rear view mirror and there is no retangular holes for the lights.Looks like I'll be doing some cutting!!!!!

Good luck
