560sl transmission clangs in reverse,HELP!

Cold start,shift out of park,engine revs high,I wait for it to settle down,then shift into Reverse it hangs for 2 seconds then shifts and
sends you to the hospital with whiplash.Back out then shift from
reverse to drive moderate whiplash.Put in new modulator valve,
counter clockwise 5 clicks.Cold start,still hospital whip lash but
forward is better.Hot start,reverse, still medium whip lash,drive is
fine,no flare between 2-3,3-4.This is a 560sl with 166 k on it.Any
one have the same problems??How is this fixed or at least toned
down.Thanks!!

How are your flex disks and motor/transmission mounts?

Flex discs fine,the motor mounts,trans mounts and subframe have
never been changed as far as I can tell.

You have checked the ATF level after the engine has been idling for 2-3 minutes after a cold start?

Changed front motor mounts and subframe mounts,trans mount,diff mount and rear sub frame mounts and flex plates.What a difference in drive and no more clanging into gear.Also just changed the trans filter and trans fluid and that took care of the last of the KA-Chunk in Reverse.I did not
think this 560sl would ever shift right.

Just an update on the clanging,It came back about a month after the last post,and believe me I had changed out everything!!!!!!I finally broke down and put a rebuilt trans in it last week,well that was it.No clangs,no thunks or chunks.When I wrote the blog it was 2009 and had 159000 on the trans,when it was changed out it had 170000 on it.So if you replace all the stuff I did and it is still clanging,IT'S THE TRANSMISSION!!!!!!!!!
