280SLs in the 107 chassis were not sold by Mercedes in the U.S. It would probably be better to look to Europe for parts suppliers for the car.

Ehud- Welcome! Try www.************************, I've ordered some stuff from them and have been very happy with them. Also, the 'buy parts" button up top of this page. Do a search on google, too, there are lots of places. Take a look at the older posts for places to avoid. Israel? No rust, right? Cheers. Ned

Let's not forget that the site owners also sell parts on fast lane.
280SL's were not officially imported into the US, but we got the 280E and the 280SE which should share many of the engine and FI components and the 450SL's shares sheet metal and suspension parts. I think you should be able to get 80% of the parts that you need from US vendors.

parts
Hi Ehud
I get most of my bits from eBay - there are loads of people around the world selling 107 Euro parts or common 107 parts. You have to watch out for the "differences" of US, Euro, UK etc models and ths relatively high costs of postage from the US comapred with within Europe but most people selling this stuff are helpful as long as you ask - and the guys on this forum are really helpful. Enjoy your SL Cheers Jim

Thank you Jim.
I have received this SL of mine from my father few month ago. it was his car since 1986. after he became sick and couldn't continue using it. he gave it to me. He loved its care and I'm planning to keep it for ever. Generally the car in very good condition and I would like to keep it so. Again, Thank you all for the help Great forum and great guys Ehud |

I, too, have a 280 SL, albeit an '83. At first, I found it frustrating looking for parts. I slowly realized that the 280SL is really a 380 SL with a different engine. Chassis, brake, steering, interior parts are the same. The problem is with engine parts. The key, for you, is PART NUMBERS. If you are armed with the part number you can find your part.
I, personally, buy everything at the dealer. My dealer subscribes to the MB Euro site giving him access to what I need.
