Does anybody have a good splash/dirt shield to sell?
I need a good splash/dirt shield for the driver's side wheel well of a 380sl? My rubber gasket is still good, but I need the metal plate that bolts on to the wheel well to keep dirt and water from going up into the outer fender? If so, please drop me a note with a price.

I need to order a couple myself. I'm thinking of buying them from K&K. Click the 107 link and click Body Panels.

A leak in this area is pretty catastrophic - I had some serious rust on a fender due to an improper repair on the 380SL years before, where the gasket wasn't installed right and they didn't use the body putty. |
Thanks for the tip on the putty. Good to know before I pull my fender.

For the price of a new one (one time) I don't know if I'd go with a 19+ year old gasket that has likely been yanked because of a rust problem or a parting out.

A photo of my 75, 280SL with inner fender panels from the 560. Part #'s are 107-884-03-35 and 107-884-04-35. You'll also need 2 gaskets, 107-884-01-98. The panels were 64.50 each, gaskets 7.20 each. Fenders were off so it took about an hour for each to install. They also sell a complete kit to re-bolt the fender on, 107-880-01-97, a whole lot easier than trying to find what you need at the hardware store. Other photo is what happens without the inner panel.
