Does anybody have a good splash/dirt shield to sell?

I need a good splash/dirt shield for the driver's side wheel well of a 380sl? My rubber gasket is still good, but I need the metal plate that bolts on to the wheel well to keep dirt and water from going up into the outer fender? If so, please drop me a note with a price.

Thanks

I need to order a couple myself. I'm thinking of buying them from K&K. Click the 107 link and click Body Panels.

Just because the rubber "looks" good doesn't mean it's going to be good for long. It's not expensive - and you also need the "body putty" that goes on the inside of the plate that squishes inbetween the plate and the inner and outer fender. This stuff is not very expensive at the dealer.

A leak in this area is pretty catastrophic - I had some serious rust on a fender due to an improper repair on the 380SL years before, where the gasket wasn't installed right and they didn't use the body putty.

Thanks for the tip on the putty. Good to know before I pull my fender.

Ditto for me on the gasket and body putty. Now i'm thinking that the lack of putty on mine may have contributed to the rust that's developing on my fender. I was also thinking about getting the K & K replacement, but i thought i'd look for a good used one first. There must be a ton of them out there, but finding a good one may be difficult.

For the price of a new one (one time) I don't know if I'd go with a 19+ year old gasket that has likely been yanked because of a rust problem or a parting out.

A photo of my 75, 280SL with inner fender panels from the 560. Part #'s are 107-884-03-35 and 107-884-04-35. You'll also need 2 gaskets, 107-884-01-98. The panels were 64.50 each, gaskets 7.20 each. Fenders were off so it took about an hour for each to install. They also sell a complete kit to re-bolt the fender on, 107-880-01-97, a whole lot easier than trying to find what you need at the hardware store. Other photo is what happens without the inner panel.

Thanks JD, I already got the panel and gasket from K and K manufacturing for about the same prices. But could you post a side-view of your 280? I'd love to see what it looks like in there without the outer fender.

Thanks
