1981 mercedes sl

just wondering if a 1973 450 motor will bolt on from a 1981 380 engine with no problems ,, some feedback would be helpful thanks

You might want a later CIS engine or else you will need to either convert the 73 motor to CIS or transfer all of the EFI parts to the 380SL.
4.5 engine is an iron block so much heavier then the all alloy block.

Best bet though is to source an engine from a 380SE.

It might be useful to look at this thread:

swap 3 speed to 5 speed in 75 450sl
