85 380SL starts and quits
230K miles, in storage for several years, new fuel pump, filter. Idle valve OK, idle control module OK. Fuel distributor OK, injectors OK.
It starts right up and then quits. Last year I put fuel stabilizer in the tank but didn't run it through the engine. Some one suggested it is the fuel pressure regulator. How do I check this? Suggestion most welcome. Many thanks, Grammabud |

You need to check your fuel pressures - system pressure and control pressure. Lots of posts on how do do this.
When you do this, you will need to jumper the fuel pump by removing the relay and bridging terminals 30 and 87. This will cause the pump to run. While it is running, check that the air sensor plate can be easily pushed down and that it returns smoothly to its upper position. What may be happening: - low system pressure, not high enough to open the injectors - high control pressure not allowing FD pistion to move - FD piston stuck, not moving

Do you know if the pump is running after the engine starts?
It sounds like the engine fires off of the built up pressure of the prime cycle(the hum when the key is turned on) and then never fires back up after the engine is started.
