'96 SL500 antenna replacement

Looks like I have to replace the whole motor unit if I can hear
the motor running but the antenna does not extend or retract?

(Used to be a nylon cable drive in the old S-class diesels I drive.
Just needed to replace the mast.)

Cheers,
Richard

R129 Antenna

Remove the nut on the fender, turn on the radio and the antenna should jump out, if not pull on it with the antenna motor running. Good Luck

If the antenna is a Hirshmann, check their web site for a fix-it kit. I believe that they still use a nylon drive cable.

If the actuator motor is receiving power then check the ground for the system. Sometimes the connection is loose or corroded. A simple cleaning or tightening can correct our problem. If ground circuit is good, replace the antenna unit.
