4 Tip Exhaust, Again!
Phil Here, As many guys remember, I had fabricated and Installed a Functional 4 Tip AMG Oval exhaust system at the rear of my Sweet 500 SL. It took a few months of Research, planing and fabrication and a cost of about 250.00.The project was well worth the cost, I get a lot of complements on the system and of course I think it looks and sound Hot!
I was tooling through EBay the other day and I found a Stainless exhaust system that almost duplicates the one that I had fabricate for my SL. The system is not made for the SL specifically but as I can see can be adjusted to fit the W 129 with little effort and cost. The price is also very right. For guys like me who want a little more functional "Bling" and want those Corvette's to think twice about messing with me on the road, This is the way to go! Enclosed is Raceland system, Please fell free to view my Album and Pictures to see my system looks. Search EBay for: Raceland USA Sparks Nevada 1992 500 Sweet 500SL Phil Justice |

4Tip Exhaust
Conrad, Phil Here. As stated, My system cost about 250.00 to fabricate. The RaceLand system is only priced at about 100.00, I paid that just for the AMG.Four Tips. Now, although there system is not made specifically for the SL, It sure looks similar to what I had fabricated for my car. There system is adjustable but I think some modifications to your existing exhaust pipe will be still necessary. I have eliminated my rear muffler and had the system made with a Flange in the Pipe so that I could go back to Stock at a latter time or for Re-Sale. There system comes with a SS muffler of its own. Conrad, For 100 Bucks the avenues of imagination are endless, Good luck and have fun!

I wonder if something like that would work on my SEC?

4 Tip Exhaust
Dee8go, Phil Here. I have found plenty of room for a Cross over Exhaust system on my Sl that is in between my Spare Tire Pan and the rear Bumper Valance. Light up a good Cigar, Lay down under your Car and study it for awhile, The Light's will go on and you will realize it.
My only cutting modification was to eliminate the stupid Rear Tow Hook and slightly cut my rear valance to except the other set of Tips. 1992 Sweet 500 Sl Phil Justice |

So, it sounds like the layout of your SL and my SEC are pretty similar back there. I was thinking of trying to put mufflers in the space where the resonators used to be and then running the exhaust pipes out on either side. Unfortunately, the one on the passenger side would pass too close to the fuel pump to be safe.
What you did would solve my problem. Thanks.
