The wood came out fine,

I got the wood out fine and had my shop make a full carbon one inplace of it. I also have carbon made for the door panels. its a good time to look at radio and switchs while the center console is out, im very happy with the new look.!

How about some pictures of the carbon pieces? You could probably sell them to us guys here on the forum if the price was reasonable. I personnaly prefer the "look" of brushed metal. Never was too keen on the Burle wood. But I like the look of carbon fiber.

To post a picture, use the "paper clip" attach file. The picture icon does not function for an upload. You need to keep the file size fairly small, but a 640x480 jpg picture should load fine.

That's a great look! What do you put over the carbon fiber? Is it laquered or what?

Carbon info,

The Carbon fiber we do has a UV protected clear coat thats a resin base. so you can keep it in the sun or rain. Alot of my carbon work goes onto boats. so it has to hold up in the weather.

Larry,
That looks fantastic!!! How hard is it to pull the wood panel out? How about some pix for your door panels as well?

Do you have some kind of form to follow the curved and rounded surfaces of the other trim pieces?

cabon parts

All the carbon parts we make are pulled from molds that we build. So we use 100% carbon fiber not printed plastic. nice thing about doing it this way you can have a great fitting part that looks really good in the end, Im really happy with the carbon in the SL500!
And thanks everyone for the nice replies to this posting,...
